ᛊThe Saga

How the forest began

I

Games about nothing

Summer 2026. My daughters are nine and eleven. We had played A Link to the Past, It Takes Two and Super Mario World together, but someone always ended up watching instead of playing.

When the girls got to choose, it was Roblox or Minecraft. Every time. Fly a little higher, run a little faster. But for what? No story, no heroes who grow, just one more shiny reward.

I wanted a game where we were a team. Where we helped each other build something that mattered.

Three designers, one couch

I had never made a game. I'm a firefighter, and I study on the side. But we sat down together and asked: what would our game have?

The girls knew right away. Animals you take care of. Houses you build and furnish. Resources to gather. They chose every animal in the game: the fox, the bear, the owl, the dragon and, of course, the unicorn.

We borrowed the best parts of the games they loved and wove them into something all three of us could play at the same time.

Just one more night

One evening the three of us sat on the couch, defending our camp against a raid in the night. Then it was bedtime.

They didn't want to stop. Being the responsible dad and sending them off to brush their teeth was hard, because honestly, I wanted to keep playing too.

That was the night I knew this was something real.

The forest kept growing

The little prototype kept growing. A wilderness with five living landscapes. Day, night and weather. Raids on your camp and ancient bosses. Real houses, tame companions you can ride, spells, and heroes you design yourself. Then online play, so friends far away can join the couch too.

All of it was made on one home PC with an RTX 3060, using ComfyUI, Blender scripts and a Claude subscription, and a lot of nights with too little sleep.

ᚷCouch co-op

One screen. The whole family.

Grab a controller and press A to join. The screen splits by itself. Everyone gets their own view, hero and backpack, but you share one world, one camp and one campfire to keep alive.

ᛟThe Wilds

A land with its own moods

Five landscapes blend into one another, each with its own trees, light, sounds and creatures, and between them lie caves and hidden glades. Days turn to night, rain rolls in, thunder can fell a tree and mist lies low in the morning.

The Birch MeadowsWhere every journey begins. Warm light, flowers and a safe glade to build your first camp.
The DarkwoodTall pines, ferns and cold mist. An abandoned cabin hides among the trunks.
The Root MireFog, dead trees and something sunken in the bog.
Troll RidgeCold light, long views and far more dangerous foes.
The ShorelandsOpen sky, reeds and the sound of water over the lake.
The CavesGlowing mushrooms, rich ore and guarded treasure.
The Elf GladeThe unicorn only shows itself at dawn.

ᚱGameplay

Everything we dreamed up together

Build a home

Lay the foundation, raise log walls and thatch the roof. Grow from a humble hut to a chieftain's hall, then furnish it.

Gather, craft, cook

Chop, mine and forage. Smelt ore, forge at the smithy and cook in the cauldron. Eat and drink to stay strong.

Tame and ride

Sneak up on wild cubs and win their trust with their favourite food. Ride a bear through the river or take to the skies on a dragon.

Real combat

Block, parry and shield bash. Lock on, draw your bow, switch between blade and shield. Play in first or third person.

Runes and spells

Hold to charge, release to cast. Defeat the ancient ones to learn fireball, frost ring and lightning.

Defend the fire

When night falls, raiders come for your campfire. Build palisades and towers, then mend what they break at dawn.

Ancient bosses

The Greyling King, the Troll King and the Bone Warden, each with its own attacks to learn and dodge together.

Your own hero

Pick hair, beard and war paint. Your gear grows from flint to bronze, iron and crystal, with talents to match.

ᚨKickstarter

Help the forest grow

Everything so far was built on a home PC and spare nights. A small Kickstarter, around $2,000, would let us take the game the last stretch:

  1. ᛗ

    Better models

Professional 3D generation services instead of a single home graphics card.

  2. ᚲ

    Better tools

A stronger AI plan, so new content arrives faster.

  3. ᛉ

    Servers

So online play works smoothly for everyone.

  4. ᛏ

    Steam

The release fee and everything it takes to get the game into your library.

Our aim is simple: everyone who backs gets to play as early as possible.
